El thymós de Alejandro Magno en Alex. 50-51 de Plutarco : Apropiación y recreación de elementos épicos y dramáticos

La representación de Alejandro Magno ha tomado diferentes formas en los relatos escritos a partir de su figura histórica. En este trabajo se propone un abordaje de la imagen del rey macedonio en el tercer banquete de Vida de Alejandro (Alex. 50-51) de Plutarco de Queronea, que retrata el thymós ("temperamento", "cólera", "ira", "ímpetu", "ánimo", "energía") en el episodio de la muerte de Clito. El análisis se centra en la construcción del thymós por medio de la apropiación y recreación de elementos tomados de dos vertientes de la tradición clásica: el modelo épico y el dramático. En el primer caso, se examinará la ruptura que la prosa biográfica establece con la poesía épica por la ausencia de intervención divina en las decisiones y acciones humanas. En el segundo, se observará la reelaboración de procedimientos de la poesía trágica en la narración en prosa y su influencia en la instalación de la problemática del exceso en el poder. Esta clave de lectura permitirá reflexionar sobre uno de los problemas centrales.
The portrait of Alexander the Great has taken different forms in the tales written from his historical figure. In this work it is proposed an approach to the image of the Macedonian king in the third symposium of Life of Alexander (Alex. 50-51) by Plutarch of Chaeronea, which portrays the thymós ("temper", "anger", "impetus", "soul", "vigour") in the episode of the murder of Clitus. The analysis is centered in the construction of the thymós by the appropriation and recreation of features taken from two ways of the classical tradition: the epical and the dramatical model. In the first case, it will be examined the rupture that the biographical prose establishes with the epical poetry by absence of divine intervention in the human decisions and actions. In the second one, it will be observed the reworking of procedures of the tragic poetry in the narrative prose and its impact in the installation of the power excess problem. This key to reading will allow the reflection about one of the Plutarch?s biography central problems: the fictional appearance of text. Our purpose is to emphasize the literary imprint of the bios by the use of mimetic processes in the writing, which inscribe the Plutarch's production in the Second Sophistic.
