El artículo examina las relaciones entre el film ensayo "Patience (after Sebald)", de Grant Gee, y el relato Los anillos de Saturno, de W. G. Sebald. A través de los rasgos ensayísticos del film de Gee, se indaga sobre las correlaciones entre discurso literario y cinematográfico, y sobre la dificultad de considerarlo una adaptación. Pensando al film como respuesta al libro, el texto explora las dimensiones del diálogo entre literatura y cine, así como los modos de meditación sobre el viaje, la temporalidad y la memoria inscriptos en ambas obras.
The article examines the relationship between the film essay "Patience (after Sebald)", by Grant Gee, and the book The Rings of Saturn, by W. G. Sebald. Through the essayistic features of Gee’s film, the author explores the correlations between literary and cinematographic discourse, together with the difficulty of considering it as an adaptation. Thinking about the film as a response to the book, the text explores the dimensions of the dialogue between literature and cinema, as well as the modes of meditation on travel, temporality and memory inscribed in both works.
