Tolotzin y la cuenta del tiempo: aproximación arqueoastronómica al sitio arqueológico Cerro Toloche

El sitio arqueológico Cerro Toloche, localizado en la capital del Estado de México, fue posiblemente considerado un monte sagrado por sus antiguos habitantes. Su forma y emplazamiento revela una relación con el cielo (en especial con el astro solar) a través de la orientación de su arquitectura y la presencia de marcadores naturales en ambos horizontes. Las diferentes fechas señaladas están asociadas con una división del tiempo prehispánico en intervalos de 13 y 20 días, con un énfasis en la presencia de la familia del 52, en los días cuartos de año, así como con los extremos solsticiales. Por otro lado, la toponimia del sitio exhibe una asociación con las deidades del fuego, del tiempo y los ciclos, que, relacionada con los fenómenos celestes y la práctica agrícola del maíz, permite interpretar al cerro Toloche como un objeto social dentro de un campo de relaciones, portador de una agencia que procura la continuidad del tiempo y del mundo.
The Cerro Toloche archaeological site, located in the capital of the State of Mexico, was probably considered a sacred mountain by its ancient inhabitants. Its shape and location reveal a relationship with the sky (especially with the movement of the sun) through the orientation of its architecture and the presence of natural markers on both horizons. The different dates indicated are associated with a division of pre-Hispanic time into intervals of 13 and 20 days, with an emphasis on the presence of the family of 52, on the fourth days of the year, as well as with the solstitial extremes. On the other hand, the toponymy of the site exhibits an association with the deities of fire, time and cycles, which, related to celestial phenomena and the agricultural practice of corn, allows us to interpret Cerro Toloche as a social object within a field of relationships, bearer of an agency that seeks the continuity of time and the world.
