Resumen: La lírica de Roberto Selles da fe, por su riqueza estilística y temática, de la gran experiencia de un esteta, que tanto supo incursionar en la veta tanguística, como en la música culta, la literatura medieval, renacentista y clásica, el surrealismo, las vanguardias europeas o lo circense. Aunque no abarca la totalidad de la poesía de Selles –como lo muestra Vivir en defensa propia, tal vez su testamento estético, de 2015–, la expresión lunfarda es piedra angular de parte de su obra, pues no solo supera y con creces el guiño lingüístico o el juego estético de un erudito, sino que parece cobrar un valor semiótico fundamental, y nuestra hipótesis es que conforma el vehículo necesario de un interrogante ontológico y existencial que se va profundizando y ampliando a lo largo de la experiencia del vivir y del escribir. Pues, si en 1988, la voz poética de Lunfamor pinta la intensidad puntual del acto de amor y cuestiona la relación entre intensidad y duración de la pasión, amor y desamor, años más tarde Mester de Lunfardía enmarca la doble dimensión erótico-thanática del acto amoroso en una reflexión poético-filosófica sobre la relación vida/muerte y el rol existencial de la creación estética. Nuestro análisis de las dos obras apuntará a destacar el rol del lunfardo en la estética y la filosofía sellesana, tratando de medir la evolución de los grandes temas –ejes de un enfoque del mundo y de la vida– y su valor en dos obras que signan respectivamente la juventud y la madurez de este eximio poeta.
Abstract: Due to its stylistic and thematic richness, Roberto Selles's lyrics attest to the great experience of an esthete, who knew how to venture into the tango vein as well as into classical music, medieval, Renaissance, and classical literature, surrealism, European vanguards or the circus. Although it does not cover all of Selles's poetry –as showes Vivir en defensa propia, perhaps his aesthetic testament, from 2015–, the lunfardo expression is a cornerstone of part of his work, since it not only exceeds and far exceeds the wink linguistic or the aesthetic game of a scholar, but also seems to take on a fundamental semiotic value, and our hypothesis is that it forms the necessary vehicle for an ontological and existential question, that deepens and broadens throughout Selles’ experience of living and writing. If in 1988 the poetic voice of Lunfamor paints the punctual intensity of the act of love and questions the relationship between intensity and duration of passion, love and lack of love, years later Mester de Lunfardía frames the double erotic-thanatic dimension of the loving act in a poeticphilosophical reflection on the life/death relationship and the existential role of aesthetic creation. Our analysis of the two works will aim to highlight the role of lunfardo in the aesthetics and philosophy of Selles, trying to measure the evolution of the great themes –axes of an approach to the world and life– and their value in two works that signify respectively the youth and maturity of this eminent poet.
