A last glimpse of a land: Fotografía, memoria y representación histórica hacia los horizontes del ensayo documental

The article examines how the breakdown of civilization after the Second World War changed the content of words, the relationship of language to experience. The relevance of the topic is expressed by bringing together the voices of philosophers and film critics to expand on considerations of why the ambiguity regarding the documentary nature of the photographic image is a fundamental key to understanding the metaphorical and poetic power of the documentary essay, when approaching a cinematic gaze on memory. We consider that the arrest in the ecliptic space between photograph and frame is one of the elective gestures of the consciousness of the image in terms of its destiny and its survival. With the aim of recovering certain uses that photographs have in a significant portion of contemporary audiovisual essays, a critical reading of the essay Patience (After Sebald) (2012) is incorporated.
El artículo examina cómo la ruptura de civilización tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial cambió el contenido de las palabras, la relación del lenguaje con la experiencia. La vigencia del tópico se expresa en la reunión de voces de filósofos y de críticos del cine, para ampliar consideraciones sobre por qué la ambigüedad relativa a la naturaleza documental de la imagen fotográfica es una clave fundamental para comprender la potencia metafórica y poética del ensayo documental, cuando se aproxima una mirada cinematográfica sobre la memoria. Consideramos que la detención en el espacio eclíptico entre fotografía y fotograma es uno de los gestos electivos de la conciencia de la imagen en lo que refiere a su destino y a su supervivencia. Con el objetivo de recuperar ciertos usos que las fotografías tienen en una porción significativa de ensayos audiovisuales contemporáneos, se puntualiza una lectura crítica del ensayo Patience (After Sebald) (2012).
