Codicología, bibliografía material y bibliotecas en la obra de Germán Orduna

Con la fundación del Secrit, la creación de la revista Incipit y su trabajo en ediciones críticas, Germán Orduna introdujo a la Argentina en un campo de estudio del que estaba prácticamente ausente. Al mismo tiempo que elaboraba sus ediciones de textos medievales, atendiendo a la metodología más adecuada para cada texto, desplegaba una serie de actividades que auxiliaban y fortalecían ese campo. La atención que prestó a los aspectos materiales de los códices y de los primeros impresos en el ámbito hispánico reveló un renovado interés hacia los principios de la bibliografía material, disciplina un tanto olvidada a inicios de los años 80 y hoy en pleno auge dentro de los estudios literarios. Este artículo rescata esas facetas, basándose en la correspondencia epistolar mantenida por Germán Orduna con colegas y amigos entre 1981 y 1984, la cual registra distintos momentos de la gestación de Incipit, así como también sus reflexiones sobre cuestiones codicológicas. Por último, se evoca su participación en la catalogación de fondos bibliográficos valiosos en nuestro país y la vigencia de dichas líneas de trabajo en nuestro instituto, en el marco del homenaje internacional a su figura, a 20 años de su muerte.
With the founding of secrit, the creation of Incipit, and his work on critical editions, Germán Orduna introduced Argentina to a field of study from which it was basically absent. While editing medieval texts, applying the most adequate methodology to each one of them, he would simultaneously carry out a series of activities that favored and strengthened that field. The attention given to the material aspects of Hispanic codices and first printed texts revealed a renewed interest in the principles of material bibliography, an almost neglected discipline at the beginning of the 1980’s but now in full apogee in literary studies. This article seeks to retrieve those aspects based on the correspondence held between Germán Orduna and his colleagues and friends between 1981 and 1984, which records different moments during the creation of Incipit, as well as his thoughts on codicological matters. Lastly, we recall his participation in the indexing of bibliographical collections of great value to our country and the present relevance of his work for our institute.
