El objetivo de este trabajo fue comparar la distribución de la humedad edáfica entre dos sistemas silvopastoriles con diferentes densidades y configuraciones arbóreas y una pradera. El experimento se realizó sobre un Argiudol típico ubicado en La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina (34° 55' S; 57° 57' W; 18 m snm). La especie forestal fue Populus deltoides Marsh. cv (USA- Cat Fish 2) con 625 y 416 árboles por hectárea y el tapiz herbáceo estuvo constituido por especies indígenas y naturalizadas. Los registros humidimétricos se realizaron durante verano, otoño, invierno y primavera de 1996, con una sonda de neutrones hasta 235 cm de profundidad. La presencia de los árboles en el paisaje modificó la distribución de la humedad edáfica con respecto a la pradera testigo. Esa distribución fue influenciada por el número y la disposición de los árboles y la existencia de condiciones microclimáticas particulares de cada sistema.
The objective of this work was to compare the distribution of soil moisture among two silvopastoral systems with different stand tree densities and configuration and a witness meadow. The trial was realized on a Typic Agiudoll situated in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentine (34° 55' S; 57° 57' W; 18 m osl ). The forestal specie was Populus deltoides Marsh. cv (USA- Cat Fish 2) with a stand density of 625 and 416 trees per hectare and the herbaceous stratum was constituited by indigenous and naturalized species. The moisture registries were realized during summer, autumn, winter and spring of 1996 with a neutron probe till 235 cm of depth. The presence of trees in the landscape modified the soil moisture distribution with respect to the witness meadow. That distribution was influenced by the number and disposition of trees and the existence of particular microclimatic conditions in every one system.
