Manifestación del vigor híbrido en cultivos «in vitro» de embriones de maíz («Zea mays») con y sin escutelo

Fueron comparados los desarrollos « in vitro» de embriones híbridos (F₁) y la Línea parental eudocriada materna (P₁). Cuando los embriones se cultivaron con sus respectivos escutelos la diferencia de desarrollo era significativamente superior a favor de la (F₁). Por el contrario, cuando los embriones se cultivaron desprovistos de su escutelo esa significancia fue a favor de (P₁). Se considera posible en este caso que la heterosis se manifiesta en función de todo el tejido híbrido y que su escisión inhibe la manifestación del vigor híbrido o heterosis.
The developments “in vitro” of hybrid euibryos (F₁) and their female inbred parental line were compared. When the embryos were cultivated with their respective scutellum, the difference of development was significantly superior in behalf of the hybrid (F₁). But, on the contrary when the embryos were cultivated without their scutellum such significance was in behalf of the female parental inbred line (P₁). It is considered possible in this case that the heterosis shows itself in function of the whole hybrid tissue and that its division inhibits the manifestation of hybrid vigour or heterosis.
