La llegada de Mauricio Macri, jefe de la alianza Cambiemos, al poder en 2015 implicó un cambio radical de orientación de la política económica. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar algunos aspectos de la política monetaria y fiscal y, sobre todo, su relación con el sector externo, para intentar comprender cómo pasó la Argentina de estar relativamente estable y desendeudada al final de doce años de kirchnerismo –aunque con algunos desequilibrios macroeconómicos– a estar al borde de otra crisis financiera. Se prestará especial atención a los problemas de “restricción externa” de la economía argentina, a sus aspectos novedosos e históricos y al modo que las políticas macristas han supuesto un deterioro inédito de las cuentas externas que, entre otras cosas, están vinculadas al retorno del Fondo Monetario Internacional a nuestro país.
The arrival of Mauricio Macri, head of the Cambiemos alliance, to power in 2015 implied a radical change in the direction of economic policy. The objective of this work is to analyze some aspects of monetary and fiscal policy and, above all, its relationship with the external sector, to try to understand how Argentina went from being relatively stable and debt-free at the end of twelve years of Kirchnerism - although with some macroeconomic imbalances – to be on the brink of another financial crisis. Special attention will be paid to the problems of “external restriction” of the Argentine economy, to its novel and historical aspects and to the way that Macrista policies have led to an unprecedented deterioration of the external accounts that, among other things, are linked to the return of the International Monetary Fund to our country.
