Roberto Arlt fotógrafo: sobre las aguafuertes fluviales, patagónicas y españolas

El artículo se propone indagar los vínculos entre crónica y fotografía en tres de los viajes que Roberto Arlt realizó como corresponsal del diario El Mundo: el recorrido por el Litoral, el desplazamiento por la Patagonia y el gran viaje por España.Interesa reflexionar cómo a través del par texto-imagen el escritor incluye por primera vez en su obra periodística representaciones paisajísticas y panoramas turísticos. Además, se observa qué tipo de transformaciones estéticas aparecen dentro del corpus de las fotografías tomadas por el propio Arlt. En efecto, si las imágenes capturadas a propósito de los recorridos por el interior del país privilegian, a través de planos abiertos, vistas naturales, en las fotos españolas aparecen imágenes sobre arquitectura, composiciones estéticas más complejas y retratos posados. Se estudian entonces los tres viajes en conjunto para indagar la figura de Roberto Arlt como escritor-fotógrafo y la manera en que el análisis intermedial de crónica e imagen aporta al estudio de la obra periodística del autor.
This article seeks to explore the link between chronicle and photography in three of Roberto Arlt's trips as a correspondent for the Spanish newspaper, El Mundo: His travels through the Littoral and Patagonian regions of Argentina as well as his great journey across Spain. Our main purpose is to analyze the way in which the writer, for the first time, unites image with text by including landscapes and scenic views in his journalistic work. Moreover, we will examine what types of aesthetic transformations occur in the collection of photographs taken by Arlt himself, and if, indeed, the images captured during his travels across Argentina favor nature views by means of wide shots while the images from Spain depict architecture, more complex aesthetic compositions, and portraits. The three journeys will therefore be studied together to analyze Roberto Arlt's role both as a writer and a photographer and the way in which the intermedial analysis of chronicle and image contributes to the study of the author's journalistic work.
