El debate sobre la distinción entre teoría sociológica y teoría social

El artículo explora el debate sobre la distinción entre teoría sociológica y teoría social, identificando, describiendo y clasificando las distintas posturas que adoptan sus interlocutores; luego, sistematiza significados, alcances, límites y vínculos conceptuales entre ambas. Para ello, según un criterio temporal, primero se atiende a perspectivas que sostienen que la teoría social precede a la teoría sociológica; segundo, a las que plantean que la teoría social sucede a la teoría sociológica; tercero, a las que señalan una coexistencia entre las dos. Posteriormente, se trasciende la dimensión tem- poral en busca de añadir criterios para deslindarlas. Por último, dada la con- sideración de que el debate por la distinción es aún incipiente, en las conclu- siones se presentan dimensiones analíticas para estimularlo.
The article examines the debate about the distinction between sociological theory and social theory, identifying, describing and classifying the different positions adopted by its interlocutors; then, it systematizes the meanings, scope, limits and conceptual links between them. To this end, according to a temporal criterion, first, it attends to perspectives that maintain that social theory precedes sociological theory; second, to those that state that social theory succeeds sociological theory; third, to those that point to a coexistence between the two. Subsequently, the temporal dimension is transcended in order of adding criteria to specify these theories. Finally, given the consideration that the debate on the distinction is still incipient, some analytical dimensions to stimulate it are presented in the conclusions.
