Sahumando relaciones entre plantas, humos y sahumeras para conectar parcialmente mundos multiespecies

Este trabajo versa sobre los sahumos, unos entretejidos de plantas que se queman con fines curativos. Dichos artefactos son confeccionados a mano, principalmente por mujeres —las sahumeras— quienes viven en áreas urbanas asociadas al litoral fluvial del río Paraná (Argentina). Previamente al abordaje de campo, nuestras nociones instalaban a dichas sahumeras en contextos new age. Habitados, pero en disconformidad con estas ideas previas, desplegamos una práctica etnográfica que nos comenzó a hablar de una praxis en la que el cuerpo vegetal posee una potencia capaz de afectar a los cuerpos humanos. Aprendimos que el alma vegetal, porta una intensión que es transmutada a través del humo cuando se quema la materia botánica, ligando a quiénes se sumergen en dicho ejercicio de diálogo multiespecies. El objetivo de este texto radica así en navegar hacia esos terrenos con el ánimo de narrar relaciones que burlan el desagenciamiento de la naturaleza urbana y conectan —al menos parcialmente— las prácticas desplegadas por las sahumeras con las propias de mundos relacionales.
This work deals with smudge, interweaving of plants that are burned for healing purposes. These artifacts are made by hand, mainly by women —the smudge stick makers— who live in urban areas associated with the river basin of Paraná River (Argentina). Prior to the field approach, our notions installed these smudge stick makers in new age contexts. Inhabited, but in disagreement with these previous ideas, we unfolded an ethnographic practice that began to speak to us of a praxis in which the vegetable body possesses a power capable of affecting human bodies. We learned that the vegetable soul carries an intention that is transmuted through smoke when the botanical matter is burned, linking those who immerse themselves in said multispecies dialogue exercise. The objective of this text thus lies in navigating towards these lands with the aim of narrating relationships that circumvent the disintegration of urban nature and connect —at least partially— the practices deployed by the smudge stick makers with those of relational worlds.
