Este ensayo supone una reflexión sobre el impacto que la Primera Guerra Mundial ejerció sobre las generaciones de su tiempo, así como sus consecuencias sociales y políticas, a través del itinerario intelectual de dos reconocidos escritores, el francés Pierre Drieu la Rochelle (1893-1945) y el alemán Ernst Jünger (1895-1998). Ambos tuvieron mando de tropas en sus respectivos ejércitos, ambos escribieron sus testimonios sobre el conflicto y la sucesiva posguerra, reflexionando sobre el individuo, la sociedad, la técnica y las ideologías políticas surgidas en aquellos años difíciles. Por tratarse de dos ocasionales enemigos que coinciden en muchas ideas, a la vez lúcidas y controvertidas, constituyen un ejemplo de unidad en la diversidad extremadamente interesante para las generaciones sucesivas.
This essay entails a reflexion on the impact that the First World War had over the generations of its time, as well as its social and political consequences, through the intellectual path of two recognized writers, french Pierre Drieu la Rochelle (1893-1945) and german Ernst Jünger (1895-1998). Both had troop command in their respective armies, both wrote their testimony on the conflict and the ensuing postwar, reflecting on the individual, society, technology and the political ideologies that emerged in those difficult years. Because they were occasional enemies that coincided in many ideas, both lucid and controversial, they constitute a most interesting example of unity in diversity for the future generations.
