La belleza de las máquinas (sobre Cine de exposición, de Andrés Denegri)

La muestra Cine de exposición (Andrés Denegri, 2013) plantea algunas reflexiones sobre la permanencia y los usos del pasado tal como llega hasta nosotros conservado por las películas. Encuadrada dentro de los postulados de un “cine expandido”, la exhibición propone otros usos para el celuloide, otros espacios para la proyección y otras formas de relacionarse con la memoria contenida en los films. Al ser cruzadas con otras proyecciones, las imágenes dejan de funcionar como un mero reflejo y se revelan como una superficie legible. Revelan, por así decir, su carácter intertextual. Y, a menudo, ese diálogo trae a escena eso que las imágenes dejan fuera de cuadro.
The installation show Exhibition Cinema (Andrés Denegri, 2013) suggests some reflections about the survival and the uses of the past the way it is brought to us preserved by the movies. Framed within the protocols of the “expanded cinema”, the exhibit proposes different ways of using film stock, different environments for projection and different forms of relating to the memories comprised in the movies. When combined with other projections, images stop functioning as a simple mirror and reveal themselves as a legible surface. They reveal, so to speak, their intertextual character. Frequently, this dialogue brings to the fore everything that images use to relegate to the offscreen space.
