A diferencia de lo que sucede en Tiempo y Narración, cuyo eje articulador es la narración, La memoria, la historia, el olvido tiene a la representación como concepto fundamental. En el presente artículo se pondrá de manifiesto de qué manera este concepto integra y articula las tres instancias fundamentales de la obra: la fenomenología de la memoria, la epistemología de historia y la ontología de la condición histórica. Como veremos, este proceso se logra gracias a la definición dada de representación como la imagen presente de una cosa que ‘ha sido’ pero ‘ya no es’ y a los modos en que se va manifestando la aporética relación entre presente y pasado en las distintas instancias de la obra. Nuestro objetivo, empero, consiste en señalar las tensiones que se presentan en cada nivel y las consecuencias a las que conduciría su posible resolución.
Unlike Time and Narrative, that is based on the concept of narrative, representation is the most important thing in Memory, History and Oblivion. The following paper will establish the way that this concept articulates the three main themes of the book: the phenomenology of memory, the epistemology of history and the ontology of the historical condition. I will show that this process is possible due to the definition of narrative as the present image of a thing that ‘have been’ but ‘is no more’ and to the different manifestations of the aporetical relation between present and past all along the book. My objective, however, is to indicate the tensions that appear in each of these three levels and the consequences of its possible solution.
