De roble pellín o laurel guardianes de Wallmapu

El artículo realiza una aproximación a la trayectoria de Antonio Paillafil Llancaleo, hacedor de seres ancestrales que se revitalizan en sus creaciones. Se analizan instalaciones, conjuntos escultóricos y obras efectuadas por el tallador que fueron exhibidas en distintas partes del mundo con el objetivo de transmitir su cultura. El protagonista de ellas es el chemamüll (che: ‘gente’ y mamüll: ‘madera’, en mapudungun), ser protector del espíritu de los difuntos a quienes acompañan hasta su destino final junto a sus antepasados. Construidos en roble pellín o laurel, estos tótems de grandes dimensiones son reelaborados por la mano del escultor con la intención de que su historia y sus significaciones no se olviden.
The article makes an approach to the trajectory of Antonio Paillafil Llancaleo, maker of ancestral beings that are revitalized in his creations. Installations, sculptural ensembles and works made by the carver that were exhibited in different parts of the world with the aim of transmitting their culture are analyzed. The protagonist of them is the chemamüll (che: ‘people’ and mamüll: ‘wood’, in Mapudungun), being the protector of the spirit of the deceased whom he accompanies to their final destination along with their ancestors. Built in pellin oak or laurel, these large totems are reworked by the sculptor’s hand with the intention that their history and meanings are not forgotten.
