Estudio comparativo de gingivitis entre adolescentes y adultas en el tercer trimestre de gestación

La gingivitis es más severa cuanto más joven es la gestante, y los síntomas se agravan a medida que progresa el embarazo, alcanzando mayor severidad hacia el octavo mes. La finalidad del presente trabajo fue comparar niveles séricos de estrógenos y pro- gesterona en adolescentes y adultas en el tercer mes de gestación a fin de establecer su injerencia en la enfermedad gingival. Se realizó un estudio transverso en la Unidad Sanitaria N° 44 de Berisso. La muestra fue conformada por 30 adolescentes entre 14 y 19 años de edad embarazadas y 30 embarazadas adultas entre 20 y 30 años. Se relacionaron niveles séricos de hormonas, y grado de enfermedad gingival según el índice de placa de Sillnes y Loe. En embarazadas adultas se hallaron valores de estradiol de 150 a 200 y de progesterona de 80 a 180 ng/ml. En adolescentes embarazadas en el tercer trimestre el estradiol fue de 127 a 281 pg/ml y la progesterona de 100 a 200 ng/ml. El 100% <3°) de las adolescentes embarazadas presentaron gingivitis, en el grupo testigo de adultas el 70% <21) presentaron gingivitis y el 30% <9) no. Los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que, para la muestra examinada, las alteraciones gingivales se manifiestan más severamente en adolescentes gestantes.
