A Circular Grid-Based Feature Extraction Approach for Off-line Signature Verification

- In this paper, a new feature extraction approach based on a circular grid is proposed for off-line signature verification. Graphometric features used in the rectangular grid segmentation approach are adapted to this new grid geometry. A Support Vector Machine (SVM) based classifier scheme is used for classification tasks and a comparison between the rectangular and the circular grid approaches is performed. The results obtained during the experimental phase have shown improvements when using the proposed features with respect to the case of using the features extracted from rectangular grids, specially, in discriminating simple and skilled forgeries.
