Escritos didácticos de artistas (1880-1940): aproximación a los manuales para aprender dibujo

Durante el siglo XIX e inicios del XX tuvo lugar un importante crecimiento en la producción de manuales en español orientados al aprendizaje del dibujo para uso de escolares que circularon en el ámbito hispanoamericano. Estos textos, en distinta medida, discurrían sobre aspectos lingüísticos, técnico-teóricos, históricos y reflexiones sobre el hacer artístico. El objetivo del presente artículo es exponer parte de nuestra investigación sobre cuadernos de dibujo editados por artistas en Buenos Aires entre 1880 y 1940. Postulamos que estos manuales, en tanto escritos didácticos de artistas, formaron parte de sus estrategias de inserción, visualización y legitimación de su profesión y producción artística. Asimismo, planteamos vías teórico-metodológicas factibles para su indagación.
During the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, there was a significant growth in the production of drawing manuals in Spanish for schoolchildren in the Hispanic American region. These texts, to varying degrees, dealt with linguistic, technical-theoretical, and historical aspects, as well as reflections on artistic work. The aim of this article is to present part of our research on drawing books published by artists in Buenos Aires between 1880 and 1940. We postulate that these manuals, as artist’s didactic writings, were part of their strategies for insertion, visualization and legitimization of their profession and artistic production. We also propose theoretical-methodological paths for their investigation.
