El Queratoquiste Odontogénico constituye un tipo histológico de los quistes odontogénicos de desarrollo de origen epitelial que se presenta entre la segunda y tercera década de la vida y tiene un segundo pico de aparición hacia la quinta década. La ubicación más frecuente es en la zona del tercer molar inferior, ángulo mandibular desde donde progresan hacia la rama y el cuerpo. Su importancia radica en alta tasa de recurrencia ubicada entre el 30 y 60%. El Queratoquiste Odontogénico presenta características histopatológicas que lo diferencian de otras lesiones quísticas.
Odontogenic keratocyst is a histological type of odontogenic development cysts of epithelial origin that occurs between the second and third decade of life and has a second peak of appearance to the fifth decade. The most frequent location is in the area of the lower third molar, mandibular angle from where they progress towards the branch and the body. Its importance lies in high recurrence rate located between 30 and 60%. The Odontogenic Keratocyst presents histopathological characteristics that differentiate it from other cystic lesions.
