Mapas abiertos: fotografía latinoamericana 1991-2002 : Lo latinoamericano en el relato sobre la fotografía

En el presente trabajo intentaré indagar acerca de la posibilidad, o no, de construir un relato sobre la fotografía latinoamericana a partir del abordaje de un caso: Mapas Abiertos: fotografía latinoamericana 1991-2002, exhibición curada por Alejandro Castellote en el año 2003 en España. Como veremos en el desarrollo del texto, se observa que, si bien los investigadores participantes intentaron alejarse de ciertos tópicos y maneras tradicionales de abordar la fotografía de la región, en algunos casos replican y dan continuidad a determinados modelos que, al menos en su discurso teórico, pretenden suprimir.
In this work I deal with the possibility of creating a story about Latin American photography by approaching Open Maps-Latin American photography 1991-2002, an exhibition curated by Alejandro Castellote in 2003, in Spain. As we will see throughout the article, even though the participating investigators tried to stay away from certain topics and traditional ways to approach the photography of that region, in some cases they replicate models which seem to be omitted at least in their theoretical speech.
