Este ensayo aborda el valor y los significados que se le han conferido, en la sociedad occidental, a la fotografía. Para ello, examina el contrato de lectura que se establece mediante la estructuración de la percepción y de la lectura realista del objeto-fotográfico; aborda la representación de la realidad que se le atribuye, y por la cual realidad y copia se equiparan; y ofrece una mirada sobre la educación sentimentalista que recibimos hacia el objeto-fotográfico, una afectividad que cultivamos social y culturalmente y que remarca su valor de uso. Por último, se analiza el proceso de alfabetización visual que comenzó a generarse en la Modernidad mediante la estructuración de la percepción.
This essay discusses the value and the meanings conferred, in Western society, to photography. I examine the reading contract established through the structu- ring of perception and realistic understanding of the photographic object. It also addresses the underlying logic about photography, the representation of reality attached to it and the link that have been established between reality and copy. It also looks at the sentimental education that we get about the photo. The affection that people have given, socially and culturally, to the object-photographic highlights its value of use. In the Modernity, structuring of perception has begun to generate some visual literacy.
