La Reforma Universitaria en una ciudad letrada

Este trabajo busca aportar reflexiones acerca del significado que tiene la Reforma Universitaria como acontecimiento histórico y también como idea que, 90 años después, se proyecta hasta el presente a través de un mito capaz de ser permanentemente reinvocado. Se pretende a su vez echar luz sobre episodios que contribuyeron a afirmar ese mito desde La Plata, a partir del carácter "letrado" que tuvo esta ciudad desde su origen. Asimismo son paralelamente hurgados aspectos que hacen la esencia de la Reforma, en tanto sistema de ejercicio del poder que amplió derechos, pero a la vez demandó fuertes responsabilidades para quienes participaran en él, y confrontados con situaciones que evidencian la utilización del mito como forma de disimular cierto proceso de burocratización y reducción a lo meramente formal de los postulados de 1918.
This article is an attempt to approach the concept of the University Reform, not only as a historical event but also as a lasting idea. After 90 years, it is still alive and projected into the present by means of a myth which is constantly recalled. Our aim, in this paper, is to clarify some events which contributed to sustain the myth from La Plata, as learned city. Furthermore, we'll investigate several aspects which are the essence of the University Reform. They include a system of exercise of power which broadened rights, as well as, demanding at the same time, a strong compromise from the participants, and the description of situations where the manipulation of the myth is a way for conceal certain bureaucratic processes which reduce the basic principles of 1918 to simple formalities.
