Arquitectura de asentamientos mineros en Chile Central y el Norte Semiárido (1750-1910)

Presentamos una primera aproximación a las características arquitectónicas de campamentos habitacionales de un conjunto de minas de oro, plata y cobre que operaron en el Norte Semiárido y Chile Central entre la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII e inicios del siglo XX. Aunque se encuentran dispersas en un amplio territorio, cuentan con una serie de atributos comunes, lo cual daría cuenta de un patrón común en cuanto a construcción, organización y funcionalidad de estos espacios. Algunos de estos atributos comunes se presentan en las fuentes documentales que describen las operaciones mineras para estas regiones durante el periodo de tiempo abordado, lo cual es consistente con las características generales de la minería en cuanto a la escala, organización del trabajo y tecnología de la explotación minera.
We present an initial approach to the architectural features of residential camps in a group of gold, silver, and copper mines that operated in the Semi-Arid North and Central Chile between the second half of the 18th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Although they are scattered over a wide territory, they share a series of common attributes, which would indicate a common pattern in terms of construction, organization, and functionality of these spaces. Some of these common features are described in the documentary sources that detail mining operations in these regions during the period covered, which is consistent with the general characteristics of mining in terms of scale, work organization, and mining exploitation technology.
