La riqueza de los lenguajes permite “nombrar a Dios” más allá de la formalidad de la teología como ciencia. También hay teología en lenguajes poéticos y narrativos, entre otros. El interés más profundo de Tolkien era brindar un andamiaje mitológico a la identidad de Inglaterra. “La ficción es el otro reprimido del discurso histórico”, sostenía Michel de Certeau. En la ficción por él creada incorporó figuras, tanto en los personajes como en las dinámicas de acción, propias de una comprometida cultura religiosa: cristiana católica. Explícitamente no se puede dar cuenta de una intención teológica en su obra, aunque autor y lector, sensibilizados por su entorno, pueden generar uno, y advertir el otro, los ecos y vibraciones bíblicas que “dictan” desde lo profundo de la memoria, los hábitos, el modo de comprender la vida, las relaciones interpersonales y el vínculo con lo divino.
The richness of language allows "to name God" beyond the formality of theology as a science. There is also theology in poetic and narrative languages, among others. Tolkien's deepest interest was to provide a mythological scaffolding to the identity of England. "Fiction is the other repressed historical discourse," said Michel de Certeau. In the fiction created by him, he incorporated figures, both in the characters and in the dynamics of action, typical of a committed religious culture: Catholic Christian. Explicitly we cannot account for a theological intention in his work, although author and reader, sensitized by their environment, can generate one, and warn the other, the echoes and biblical vibrations that "dictate" from the depths of memory, the habits, the way of understanding life, interpersonal relationships and the link with the divine.
Der Reichtum der Sprachen erlaubt uns das „Sprechen von Gott“ jenseits der Formalität der Theologie als Wissenschaft. Theologie gibt es unter anderem auch in poetischen und narrativen Sprachen. Tolkiens größtes Interesse bestand darin, der Identität Englands ein mythologisches Gerüst zu verleihen. „Fiktion ist der aus dem historischen Diskurs verdrängte Andere“, behauptete Michel de Certeau. In der von ihm geschaffenen Fiktion integrierte er sowohl in den Figuren wie in der Handlungsdynamik für eine engagierte religiöse Kultur - die christlich katholische - charakteristische Akteure. Man kann in seinem Werk keine ausdrückliche theologische Absicht erkennen, obwohl Autor und Leser, sensibilisiert durch ihre Umgebung, die eine erkennen und die andere erzeugen können, „vorgeschrieben“ von den biblischen Echos und Schwingungen, die aus der Tiefe der Erinnerung, der Gewohnheiten, der Art und Weise das Leben, die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen und die Verbindung mit dem Göttlichen zu verstehen.
