Las peregrinaciones a Luján en la historia

Resumen: En Argentina, una humilde Imagen de la Pura y Limpia Concepción que se quedó a orillas del río Luján, ha atraído multitudes en sus casi cuatro siglos de historia. En este artículo presentaremos un bosquejo del proceso histórico de estas peregrinaciones. Comenzaremos con una breve referencia a las romerías del siglo XVIII. Luego pasaremos al fenómeno verdaderamente multitudinario que comenzó con la llegada del ferrocarril a Luján. La etapa de las grandes peregrinaciones comienza en 1871, con la Primera Peregrinación General de los Católicos al Santuario de Luján. En este recorrido merece nombrarse también la peregrinación de los gauchos que comienza a mediados del siglo XX. Por último presentaremos la peregrinación juvenil que lleva casi medio siglo de desbordante vitalidad.
Abstract: In Argentina, a humble Image of the Pure and Clean Conception that stood on the banks of the Luján River, has attracted crowds in its nearly four centuries of history. In this article we will present an outline of the historical process of these pilgrimages. We will begin with a brief reference to the pilgrimages of the eighteenth century. Then we will move on to the truly multitudinous phenomenon that began with the arrival of the railroad to Luján. The stage of the great pilgrimages begins in 1871, with the First General Pilgrimage of Catholics to the sanctuary of Luján. In this route it is also worth mentioning the pilgrimage of the gauchos that begins in the mid-twentieth century. Finally, we will present the youth pilgrimage that has been almost half a century of overflowing vitality.
