La inseguridad alimentaria como determinante del estrés postraumático y factor de riesgo en la salud mental de jóvenes en Caracas

Resumen: El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria la influencia de la inseguridad y diversidad alimentaria, la salud mental general, la edad y el sexo sobre los síntomas de estrés postraumático, al tiempo que se pretendió verificar cómo estas variables se relacionan entre sí en jóvenes de Caracas-Venezuela. Se planteó un análisis de rutas para obtener las influencias directas e indirectas de las variables planteadas sobre los síntomas postraumaticos, en una muestra de 300 adolescentes escolares, con edades comprendidas entre 12 y 19 años. Los resultados indicaron que los jóvenes presentaron niveles leves de inseguridad alimentaria. Las distintos síntomas postraumáticos se vieron influenciados por la depresión (ᵦ=0.54; p=0.000), la ansiedad (ᵦ=0.39; p=0.000) y en menor medida por la inseguridad alimentaria (ᵦ=0.08; p=0.000). Por su parte fueron estos síntomas de depresión (ᵦ=0.20; p=0.000) y ansiedad (ᵦ=0.37; p=0.000), los que se fueron predichos notablemente por la inseguridad alimentaria. Se discuten además influencias indirectas de la inseguridad sobre la alteración en la percepción de sí mismo y otros.
Abstract: The objective of this research was to evaluate the results from an interdisciplinary perspective of the influence of insecurity and food diversity, general mental health, age and gender on the symptoms of post-traumatic stress, at the same time, tries to verify how these variables relate to each other in young people from Caracas-Venezuela. A path analysis was settled to obtain the direct and indirect influences of the variables raised in the posttraumatic symptoms, in a sample of 300 school adolescents, with ages between 12 and 19 years old. The results indicated that young people presented slight levels of food insecurity. The different posttraumatic symptoms was influenced by depression (ᵦ = 0.54; p = 0.000), anxiety (ᵦ = 0.39, p = 0.000) and a lesser extent by food insecurity (ᵦ = 0.08; p = 0.000). On the other hand, these symptoms of depression (ᵦ = 0.20, p = 0.000) and anxiety (ᵦ = 0.37, p = 0.000) were predicted by food insecurity. In adition, it was discussed indirect influences of insecurity on the alteration in the perception of oneself and others.
