Se busca definir, en este ensayo, la identidad y la misión de la universidad católica en el ámbito de la sociedad civil, en el mundo actual. Se trata de una institución perteneciente a la sociedad civil, como centro de producción y difusión de conocimiento, pero también a la Iglesia católica. Ser plenamente universidad y ser plenamente católica es el desafío fundamental. The aim of this essay is to define the identity and mission of the Catholic university in civil society in today´s world. The Catholic university is an institution that belongs both to the civil society –as a center of production and dissemination of knowledge– and the Church. The main challenge for it is to successfully fulfill its function as a university and to be fully Catholic at the same time.
