Interface between bulk-fill flowable composite resin and pulpal wall of deep dentin

Objetives to analyze the bulk-fill flowable composite-pulpal dentin wall interface in deep cavity preparations using confocal laser scanning microscopy (clsm). Methods human molars with class 1 preparations measuring 4x4x4 and performed using a cavity preparation standardizing device were used (uribe echevarria l, 2014). Experimental groups were as follows: group 1, positive control: adper single bond 2 (3mespe) adhesive and z100 (3m-espe) composite were applied in layers of 2.0mm following the incremental technique. Group 2: gc-bond adhesive (gc corp.) and gaenial (gc corp.) resin; group 3: one coat 7.0 adhesive (coltene) and fill up (coltene) resin; 4mm bulk filling was used in both groups; group 4, negative control: calcium hydroxide cement (dycal-dentsply). The teeth were sectioned bucco-lingually using isomet 1000, and polished using rotating polishing pads and 0.5 um diamond particles for direct observation by clsm lext 4000. Interfaces at the pulpal wall were determined, and mean and standard deviation were calculated. Results interfaces in group 1 exhibited adhesive fractures measuring 0.92 µm ±0.2. Though similar to positive controls (0.97µm ±0.15), interfaces in group 2 showed cohesive fractures. Adhesive fractures were evident in group 3 interfaces (19.47µm ±5.77) and in negative control group 4 (23.43 µm ±4.47). Conclusions the obtained results allow concluding that interfaces in groups 1, 3 and 4 had adhesive fractures, whereas interfaces in group 2 showed cohesive fractures.
