La presencia de recursos naturales condiciona la localización espacial del turismo y permite diferenciar espacios definidos por la función turística. Los destinos litorales concentran gran parte de la oferta turística mundial, reflejan los efectos de la transformación y reorganización territorial, constituyen la forma más común y diferencial del desarrollo turístico y el principal motivo del desplazamiento de los mayores flujos turísticos internacionales. El espacio litoral es un área muy dinámica, donde existe una fuerte interrelación entre los ecosistemas terrestres y marinos. Los efectos más frecuentes de la actividad turística en el espacio litoral están asociados al cambio drástico del uso del suelo. La acción antrópica ejercida sobre el medio ambiente colabora con la sustitución de ecosistemas naturales por otros artificiales. Con frecuencia los ambientes más afectados constituyen la esencia de la atractividad turística y ceden paso a la construcción de urbanizaciones integradas por equipamiento hotelero de amplias dimensiones, marinas, puertos deportivos, malecones, campos de golf y otros espacios de recreación.
The presence of natural resources limits the spatial location of tourism and allows for the differentiation of spaces defined by their tourist function. The coastal destinations concentrate a great deal of the world's tourist offer. They reflect the effects of transformation and territorial reorganization, constitute the most common, differential way of tourist development and they are the main reason of movement of the most important flows of international tourism. The coastal space is a very dynamic area, where there is a strong interrelation between the sea and land ecosystems. The most common effects of tourist activity in the coastal space are associated to the drastic change in the use of land. The anthropic action exerted over the environment cooperates with the substitution of natural ecosystems by other artificial ones. Frequently, the most affected environments constitute the essence of tourist attraction and give way to the construction of urban spaces integrated by hotel equipment of big dimensions, marinas, sport harbors, moles, golf courts and other recreational spaces.
