La validez de las construcciones hipotéticas integra nociones psicométricas y teóricas psicológicas. La validación de las construcciones hipotéticas y la investigación científica de carácter empírico están íntimamente relacionadas. No se trata simplemente de validar una prueba. Es preciso intentar validar la teoría sobre la que ésta descansa. Además de los requisitos, referentes a la validez teórica, es necesario tener en cuenta la teoría métrica en la que se basa una prueba y que nos indica la unidad de medición utilizada. En general, cada teoría de medición psicológica ha tenido su origen en la necesidad de poner a prueba una teoría psicológica. la correspondencia entre las definiciones operacionales constituidas por los testsy las diferentes teorías psicológicas en las que se basan, que apuntan a los aspectos de la validez constructiva y la confiabilidad. Por otra parte, estudiar cómo esas teorías psicológicas que son expresadas en los tests son puestas a prueba a través de teorías de la medición que les corresponden y que son determinadas por ellas. Toda vez que trabajamos con una prueba psicológica deberíamos reflexionar acerca de estos dos aspectos fundamentales en la psicometría: la teoría psicológica y la teoría de la medición, ya que no tenerlos en cuenta sería como operar a ciegas. The validity of hypothetical constructions integrates psychometric notions and psychological theories. The validation of hypothetical constructions and the empirical scientific research are closely interrelated. It is not only about validating a test. It is also mandatory to validate the theory through which this test relies on. Apart from the requirements related to theoretical validity, it is necessary to take into account the metric theory on which a test is based, which in turn, works as the indicator of the unit of measurement used. Generally speaking, each theory of psychological measurement has had its origin from the necessity of testing a new psychological theory, the correspondence between operational definitions stated by the tests, and the different psychological theories on which they are based, which aims at aspects constructive validity and reliability. On the other hand, it is important to study how those psychological theories, that are expressed on the tests are actually tested through their correspondent measurement theories and determined by them. Every time we work with a psychological test we must reflect upon the following fundamental aspects of psychometrics: The psychological theory and the measurement theory, since not taking them into account would be as working without information.
