Primer registro de Panthera onca Linnaeus 1758 (Carnivora: Felidae) en el Pleistoceno tardío de la provincia de Entre Ríos, Argentina

Se exhumó la mandíbula de un yaguareté de sedimentos asignables a la Formación Arroyo Feliciano (Pleistoceno tardío; Lujanense) en cercanías a la ciudad de San José, Departamento de Colón, Provincia de Entre Ríos. El ejemplar reconocido como Panthera onca, pertenece a uno de los grandes félidos ampliamente distribuidos en el Nuevo Mundo durante el Pleistoceno. Este hallazgo representa el primer registro fósil de Panthera onca en el Lujanense (Pleistoceno tardío- Holoceno temprano) de la provincia de Entre Ríos en la Mesopotamia argentina.
A right jaw of a jaguar (Carnivora: Felidae) was recovered from the Arroyo Feliciano Formation (Late Pleistocene; Lujanian Age) near the locality of San José in Department of Colón, Province of Entre Ríos in the Argentina and is recognized here as Panthera onca. The specimen belong to one of the largest felid widely distributed in the New Word during the Pleistocene. The finding represents the first record report of Panthera onca in the province of Entre Ríos in the Argentine Mesopotamia from the Lujanian Age (Late Pleistocene- Early Holocene).
