El presente artículo examina el vínculo entre los memoriales erigidos luego del conflicto bélico de Malvinas de 1982 y la construcción de las memorias de sus protagonistas, así como las distintas representaciones sobre la nación que allí se cifran. A partir del análisis de las formas materiales de dichos monumentos, el texto plantea la variedad de sentidos otorgados al significante “Malvinas” luego de la derrota argentina. En el marco más amplio de la discusión en torno a las representaciones del terrorismo de Estado, se afirma que el repertorio simbólico que ha sido hegemónico en estos artefactos conmemorativos resulta expresivo del aplazamiento de un debate social sobre Malvinas de alcances más profundos.
This work analyzes the connection between the memorials erected after the war conflict of Malvinas in 1982 and the construction of the memories of their main characters, as well as the different representations of the nation, coded in situ. Starting with an analysis of the material shapes of these monuments this paper explores the multiplicity of meanings, which have been given and applied, after the Argentinean defeat, to the signification of “Malvinas”. In a wider scale of the discussion, following the State Terrorism representations, it is acknowledged that the symbolic repertoire –that has been hegemonic in these commemorative artefacts– denotes the postponement of a deeper social debate over the subject “Malvinas”.
