El capítulo problematiza la relación entre genética y derechos humanos a partir de un caso histórico concreto: el rol protagónico que tuvieron un conjunto de familiares activistas de derechos humanos para impulsar desde el Sur Global, con base en creencias sociales, el desarrollo de una evidencia científica que revolucionó la noción de prueba en los procesos de restitución de identidad y de identificación de restos humanos, tuvo proyecciones globales, e innovó el campo de la genética. Luego, mostraremos cómo ese desarrollo científico –basado en diversas técnicas de adn– se nutrió de un registro trascendente y/o místico que facilitó su trasmisión y multiplicó sus usos sociales. Por último, discutimos el enfrentamiento entre pesimismo y optimismo acerca del futuro de los derechos humanos a partir del despliegue de una multiplicidad de futuros posibles anidados en una pluralidad de experiencias concretas de activismo en base a la evidencia y usos sociales de la genética que ponen a prueba cotidianamente la naturaleza contingente de la alianza entre genética y derechos humanos.
The chapter problematizes the relationship between genetics and human rights considering a specific historical case: the leading role that a group of family human rights activists had to promote from the Global South, based on social beliefs, the development of scientific evidence which revolutionized the notion of proof in the processes of restitution of identity and identification of human remains, had global projections, and innovated the field of genetics. Then, we will show how that scientific development –based on various dna techniques– was nourished by a transcendent and/or mystical record that facilitated its transmission and multiplied its social uses. Finally, we discuss the confrontation between pessimism and optimism about the future of human rights based on the deployment of a multiplicity of possible futures nested in a plurality of concrete experiences of activism based on the evidence and social uses of genetics that they daily test the contingent nature of the alliance between genetics and human rights.
