Intervención de rehabilitación neuropsicológica para sindrome parkinsoniano en contexto de COVID-19

La manifestación clínica de la enfermedad de Parkinson (EP) incluye síntomas motores y no motores. Entre los síntomas no motores se pueden ubicar alteraciones neuropsicológicas tales como síndrome disejecutivo, alteraciones visuoespaciales, déficits atencionales y disminución en la velocidad de procesamiento. El perfil cognitivo de estos pacientes resulta muy heterogéneo pudiendo variar desde un funcionamiento normo-típico hasta grados avanzados de demencia. Al tratarse de una enfermedad neurodegenerativa, la rehabilitación cognitiva resulta clave ya sea para estabilizar el estado funcional o enlentecer la progresión del deterioro del paciente. Sin embargo, el contexto de pandemia actual plantea nuevos desafíos enfrentándonos a la necesidad de dar respuesta en relación con el inicio o continuidad de los tratamientos. Por este motivo, el siguiente trabajo se propone presentar una intervención de rehabilitación neuropsicológica para EP desarrollada ad-hoc bajo modalidad remota. Gran parte de los pacientes con EP son adultos mayores, siendo éstos grupo de riesgo. No obstante, resulta esencial dar continuidad a las intervenciones de rehabilitación neuropsicológica para lograr el grado de funcionamiento más alto posible en el ámbito físico, psicológico y social de los pacientes. El contexto de pandemia reta al sistema de salud a desarrollar tratamientos a distancia y llevar adelante investigaciones que permitan analizar su eficacia.
The clinical manifestation of Parkinson’s disease (PD) includes motor and non-motor symptoms. Between non-motor symptoms can be located neuropsychological disorders such as dysexecutive syndrome, visuospatial disturbances, attention deficits, and decreased processing speed. The cognitive profile of these patients results very heterogeneous being able to vary from normotypic performance to advanced degrees of dementia. Being a neurodegenerative disease, the cognitive rehabilitation results fundamental to either stabilize functional status or slow progression of the patient’s deterioration. However, the current pandemic context poses new challenges facing the need to respond in relation to the start or continuity of treatments. For this reason, the following work aims to present a neuropsychological rehabilitation intervention for PD developed ad-hoc under remote technology. Most of the patients with PD are older adults, being patients at risk group. However, it turns out continuity of interventions of neuropsychological rehabilitation is essential to achieve the degree of highest possible functioning in the physical, psychological and social fields of the patients. The context of pandemic challenges the health system to develop remote treatments and carry out research that effectively analyzes its effectiveness.
