“¿Cómo creen que se sentirían ustedes si tuvieran que irse a vivir a otro país?” Invisibilización de les estudiantes migrantes en los manuales oficiales de Argentina

En este artículo analizamos material producido por el Ministerio de Educación de la Nación argentina y recomendado por el programa Educación, migraciones y movilidad humana de dicho organismo para trabajar en la escuela primaria el tema migraciones. Indagamos cómo se construye discursivamente a las personas que migran —quiénes son, qué características tienen, qué tipo de actividades realizan y cómo se presenta su subjetividad— y desde qué punto de vista se las representa. Esto nos permite comprender qué conocimientos son objeto de recuperación y cuáles no, qué facetas o características de las personas que migran se incorporan. Los resultados del análisis muestran que, a pesar de no reproducir representaciones estigmatizantes o xenófobas, el material reafirma algunos estereotipos y sostiene una visión unidimensional de las personas migrantes. Además, presenta la información desde una punto de vista nacionalista, que exalta la identificación con la Argentina, presupone que todes les docentes y estudiantes nacieron en dicho país y, por lo tanto, no interpela a les estudiantes migrantes. De esta manera, les extranjeres son colocades en el lugar del otro, de quien se habla, pero que no constituye un interlocutor legítimo. Inscribimos nuestro trabajo en el Análisis Crítico del Discurso y desarrollamos una metodología cualitativa.
In this article we analyze material produced by the Ministry of Education of the Argentine Nation and recommended by the Education, Migrations and Human Mobility program to work on the topic of migrations in primary schools. We investigate how people who migrate are discursively constructed—who they are, what characteristics they have, what types of activities they perform, and how their subjectivity is presented—and from what point of view they are represented. This allows us to understand which knowledge is recovered and which is not, what facets or characteristics of people who migrate are incorporated. The results of the analysis show that, despite of not reproducing stigmatizing or xenophobic representations, the material reaffirms some stereotypes and supports an unidimensional vision of migrants. Furthermore, it presents the information from a nationalist point of view, which exalts identification with Argentina, presupposes that all teachers and students were born in that country and, therefore, does not address migrant students. In this way, foreigners are placed as the other, who is spoken of, but who does not constitute a legitimate interlocutor. We inscribe our work in Critical Discourse Analysis and develop a qualitative methodology.
