Aportes para el análisis del enfrentamiento de la Iglesia y el gobierno peronista, 1954-1955

Este artículo busca aportar a los debates sobre la relación del peronismo y la Iglesia en los meses previos al golpe militar de 1955 en base a documentos hasta ahora desconocidos. Entre ellos, un expediente secreto del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto que nos permite analizar un hecho político similar a la movilización de Corpus Christi, de menor escala, pero ante el cual las autoridades del Ministerio ya evaluaron la posibilidad de tomar sanciones contra los religiosos involucrados. Por otro lado, examinamos los informes elaborados por militantes del Partido Peronista Femenino durante junio y julio de 1955 sobre la actividad política que se desarrollaba en torno a las iglesias, así como diferentes síntesis de lo debatido en reuniones dentro de las Unidades Básicas con las afiliadas. Estas fuentes nos permiten reflexionar, por un lado, sobre el grado de organización de estas acciones cuestionando la hipótesis de su espontaneidad. Por otro lado, contribuyen a matizar la idea de una precipitación por parte del gobierno peronista a la hora de lanzarse al enfrentamiento abierto con la curia. Por último, nos permiten una aproximación a las diferentes formas en que la confrontación con la Iglesia afectaba a las mismas bases peronistas.
This article seeks to contribute to the debates on the relationship between Peronism and the church in the months prior to the 1955 military coup. With this aim we study previously unknown documents. Among them, a secret file from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship that allows us to analyze a political event similar to the Corpus Christi mobilization, on a smaller scale. After this event the Ministry authorities have already evaluated the possibility of taking sanctions against the religious involved. On he other hand, we examine the reports prepared by militants of the Peronist Feminine Party during June and July 1955 on the political activity that took place around the churches, as well as different syntheses of what was debated in meetings within the Basic Units among the affiliates. These sources allow us to reflect, on the one hand, on the degree of organization of these actions, questioning the hypothesis of their spontaneity. On the other hand, they contribute to debate the idea of precipitation on the part of the Peronist government when launching into open confrontation with the curia. Finally, they allow us to glimpsed the different ways in which the confrontation with the church affected the same Peronist bases.
