Teatro x la Identidad (TxI) es un movimiento conformado por colectivos de teatristas que se originó en el año 2001 en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, con el objetivo de colaborar con la causa de Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo por la localización y por la restitución a las familias legítimas de los/as hijos/as de desaparecidos/as que fueron apropiados/as durante la última dictadura cívico-militar argentina (1976-1983). El presente artículo se propone analizar por qué el teatro se convierte en la herramienta emblemática de la producción cultural de Abuelas; en qué sentidos la vinculación fundacional de TxI con Abuelas influye en sus modos de representación; y de qué maneras lidia con la tensión entre autoconcebirse como un colectivo autogestivo e independiente y establecer apoyos económicos, políticos e institucionales por parte de diferentes niveles estatales.
Teatro x la Identidad (TxI) is a movement made up of groups of theater players that originated in 2001 in the City of Buenos Aires, with the aim of collaborating with the cause of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo for the location and for the restitution to the legitimate families of the children of the disappeared who were appropriate during the last Argentine civic-military dictatorship (1976-1983). The present article intends to analyze why the theater becomes the emblematic tool of the cultural production of Abuelas; In what ways the foundational connection of TxI with Abuelas influences their modes of representation; and in what ways TxI deals with the tension between self-conceiving as a self-managing and independent collective and establishing economic, political and institutional support from different state levels.
