Aníbal Norberto Ponce (1898 – 1938) vivió una época de profundas contradicciones transformaciones, en su propio país, Argentina, y en el mundo. La mayor parte de su obra está compuesta por ensayos de interpretación histórica, social y cultural. Una problemática resulta recurrente en sus textos; se trata de la reflexión acerca de la figura del intelectual y de su función en la sociedad. En este estudio nos preguntamos: ¿Cómo, a través de sus discursos, Ponce construye y reconstruye la imagen del intelectual y de su función en la sociedad? ¿En qué consiste, desde su perspectiva, el trabajo del pensamiento? ¿Cuáles son las condiciones, las relaciones de poder, las luchas dentro del campo intelectual en las que surge la reflexión ponceana acerca de la función social de la actividad teórica? Intentamos algunas respuestas a partir de las obras en las que Ponce trabaja la problemática de manera explícita o implícita.
A.N.P. (1898-1938) lived in times of deep contradictions and changes in is own country as well as in Argentina and in the world. Most of his work consists of essays conveying historical, social and cultural interpretations. A recurrent issue in his texts is the reflection about the intellectuals and their role within society. The present paper seeks the answers to the following questions: How loes Ponce, through his discourse, build and rebuild the image of the intellectual and his role in society? What is, from his perspective, the work ofthought? What are the conditions, the relations ofpower, the struggles within the intellectual field from which Ponce's reflections about the social role oftheoretical activity arise? We intend to find sorne answers in those works where Ponce deals with this problem explicit- or implicitly.
