La lengua yagan se habló en la costa sur de la Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego y territorio insular adyacente. La mayor parte de las fuentes disponibles proporcionan datos sobre una cantidad muy reducida de numerales, no más de tres (o, en los registros más recientes, cuatro) unidades, pero hay autores que han hablado de un sistema supuestamente mayor, de hasta diez unidades. El propósito de este trabajo es reunir, analizar y evaluar -desde puntos de vista tanto descriptivo como histórico-comparativo- los datos sobre numerales de esta lengua dispersos en la bibliografía.
The Yahgan language was spoken along the Southern coast of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego and in the adjacent insular territory. Most of the available sources provide data on a very small amount of numerals in this language, not more than three (or, in the most recent records, four) units, but several authors found a supposedly larger system, up to twelve units. The purpose of this work is to gather, analyze and evaluate, from both descriptive and historical-comparative points of view, the data scattered in the bibliography on Yahgan numerals.
