Comer del árbol de la vida: Artes liberales y dignidad del alma humana en la filosofía de Eriúgena

El artículo pone de manifiesto el vínculo que establece Eriúgena entre las artes liberales y el alma humana primero en las glosas que añade al texto de Marciano Capela, más tarde en su obra capital, Periphyseon. Las disciplinas son no solo inmortales, sino eternas y su ejercicio descubre la estructura de lo real y coadyuva al retorno de todo lo real a su ser prístino que es, al mismo tiempo, su conocimiento más puro. Mediante el análisis de estos textos se revelarán algunas imágenes alegóricas a las que Eriúgena recurre para esclarecer este tema.
The paper highlights the connection established by Eriugena between the liberal arts and the human soul, first in the glosses he adds to Martianus Capella’s text and later in his magnum opus, Periphyseon. The disciplines are not only immortal but eternal, and their practice unveils the structure of reality while contributing to the return of all that is real to its pristine being, which is, simultaneously, its purest knowledge. Through the analysis of these texts, certain allegorical images employed by Eriugena to elucidate this topic will be revealed.
