“En las cercanías, en las lejanías”: Hannah Arendt, Walter Benjamin y el principio an-árquico del comienzo

El presente artículo examina el modo en el que Arendt comprende los “comienzos políticos” a través de su Auseinandersetzung con la teorización de Walter Benjamin. En primer lugar, el artículo retornará a la concepción benjaminiana del Ursprung para mostrar la importancia de ella en el enfoque arendtiano del Anfang, haciendo legible lo que llamaré el “problema filosóficopolítico”. En segundo lugar, se explicará cómo los “momentos benjaminianos” en la comprensión arendtiana sobre los comienzos ayudan a la autora a tratar los problemas políticos de la espontaneidad y el fundacionalismo. Enfrentar tales problemas revela lo que está en juego en aquello que Arendt concibe como el “principio del comienzo”. Por último, se mostrará cómo este principio teorizado por Arendt adquiere un carácter an-árquico. La an-arquía, en este sentido, no equivale a un abandono de los principios políticos. Antes bien, apunta a una comprensión más sofisticada de la tensión entre “comienzo” y “gobierno” inherente en la etimología del término archē.
This paper examines the way in which Arendt understands “political beginnings” vis-à-vis her Auseinandersetzung with the work of Walter Benjamin. First, the paper will use Benjamin’s understanding of the Ursprung to show the significance of Arendt’s approach to the Anfang, making legible what I will call the “philosophico-political problem.” Second, the paper will explain how “Benjaminian moments” in Arendt’s account of beginnings helps her to deal with the political problems of spontaneity and foundationalism. Approaching these problems reveals what is at stake in how Arendt understands the “principle of beginning.” Finally, the paper will show how this principle theorized by Arendt acquires an an-archic character. An-archy, in this sense, does not amount to an abandonment of political principles. Rather, it points to a more sophisticated understanding of the tension between “beginning” and “rule” inherent in the etymology of the term archē.
