Aromas de la memoria: un aporte al paisaje olfativo patrimonial en torno a los árboles y arbustos urbanos de los valles andinos centrales de Argentina

Los aromas se vinculan a la memoria y las emociones, nuestra vida se encuentra impregnada de ellos y nos transportan a recuerdos vinculados a los lugares donde los percibimos. Los árboles, arbustos y flores en los parques, calles, plazas que habitan en las ciudades de los valles andinos centrales argentinos (VAC) poseen aromas propios que le dan cuerpo a aspectos de la identidad del lugar en diversas estaciones del año. Estas plantas habitan desde hace mucho tiempo y se encuentran adaptadas al clima, y tanto sus características como su presencia ha sido plasmada en documentos históricos. Algunos de estos aromas nos remontan a tiempos y saberes de nuestras culturas originarias, que perduran en la actualidad. Paulatinamente con la llegada de los españoles, inmigrantes, la introducción de nuevos saberes y acciones en materia de forestación en la obra pública, fueron introducidas especies exóticas que se adaptaron y son actualmente parte de nuestro paisaje olfativo. En este marco sostenemos como hipótesis que los aromas que percibimos hoy nos conectan con nuestra tierra, nos ubican de una forma sensible con el paisaje que habitamos y nutren nuestra memoria personal y compartida. La experiencia sensorial aromática resultante trasciende el tiempo, ya que los aromas son experimentados tanto por la generación presente, como las pretéritas. Ante ello, nos proponemos reconocer en el territorio, focalizados en la ciudad de Mendoza integrante de los VAC, los aromas históricos provenientes de los árboles y arbustos fragantes, ya que sus aromas le dan cuerpo a un paisaje olfativo patrimonial de gran potencial para el diseño de estrategias turísticas inclusivas. Para su desarrollo aplicamos la metodología mixta del Observatorio patrimonial del paisaje cultural de los Valles Andinos Centrales (OPVAC) - CONICET - FAUD UNSJ que conjuga el análisis diacrónico histórico del territorio con la percepción directa de las plantas y sus aromas.
Aromas are linked to memory and emotions, our lives are impregnated with them and they transport us to memories linked to the places where we perceive them. The trees, bushes and flowers in the parks, streets, squares that inhabit the cities of the Argentine central Andean valleys (VAC) have their own aromas that give body to aspects of the identity of the place in various seasons of the year. These plants have lived for a long time and are adapted to the climate, and both their characteristics and their presence have been recorded in historical documents. Some of these aromas take us back to times and knowledge of our original cultures, which endure today. Gradually with the arrival of the Spanish immigrants, the introduction of new knowledge and actions regarding forestation in public works, exotic species were introduced that adapted and are currently part of our olfactory landscape. In this framework we maintain as a hypothesis that the aromas we perceive today connect us with our land, place us in a sensitive way with the landscape we inhabit and nourish our personal and shared memory. The resulting aromatic sensory experience transcends time, as aromas are experienced by both the present and past generations. Given this, we propose to recognize in the territory, focused on the city of Mendoza, a member of the VAC, the historical aromas coming from the fragrant trees and bushes, since their aromas give body to a heritage olfactory landscape of great potential for design. of inclusive tourism strategies. For its development we apply the mixed methodology of the Heritage Observatory of the Cultural Landscape of the Central Andean Valleys (OPVAC) - CONICET - FAUD UNSJ, which combines the historical diachronic analysis of the territory with the direct perception of the plants and their aromas.
