Hacia una agenda de investigación en torno a las derechas de América Latina en el siglo XXI

Este artículo presenta un mapa del giro a la derecha en América Latina en el siglo XXI para luego repensar el concepto “derecha” y sus referencias histórico-empíricas más recientes. El concepto ha sido muy utilizado en las ciencias sociales, sin embargo creemos que hay una especificidad en su utilización cuando se le adosa el adjetivo “nueva”. Este artículo ofrece una reflexión sobre la novedad que la derecha, o las derechas, en plural, traen desde el fin de las dictaduras institucionales de las Fuerzas Armadas hasta el presente. Desde una perspectiva de sociología histórica de la formación de conceptos, en la coyuntura estudiada se identifican como elementos nuevos de la derecha: la apelación a la democracia liberal y a la movilización social (aunque se observan matices); además se señala como elemento de larga duración el combate al igualitarismo. Asimismo, el artículo ofrece una reflexión sobre una posible agenda de investigación acerca de las estrategias no electorales que las derechas emplean para la construcción de hegemonía.
This article presents a map of the Right turn in Latin America in the 21st century to then rethink the concept of Right and its more recent empirical historical references. The concept of Right has been widely used in the social sciences. However, we believe that there is specificity in its use when the adjective “new” is added. This article offers a consideration of the novelty that the Right (or Rights in plural) brings to existence in the period that goes from the end of the institutional Armed Forces dictatorships to the present. From the point of view of the historical sociology of the formation of concepts, there are at least two elements that are identified as new aspects of the right in that period: the appeal to liberal democracy and to social mobilization (although some nuances are observed regarding this topic). Additionally, the fight against egalitarianism is pointed out as a long-term element. Likewise, the article offers a consideration of a possible research agenda about the non-electoral strategies that the Right forces employ for the construction of hegemony.
