La especificidad del objeto industrial y la ontología de los objetos técnicos: acerca de los enfoques semánticos y sintácticos de la tecnología

Uno de los cambios significativos en la historia de los objetos técnicos ocurrió a partir del siglo XVIII, cuando los objetos artificiales registraron una serie de variaciones cualitativas dando lugar a lo que se conoce como objeto industrial. No obstante, muchas de las reflexiones filosóficas más importantes del siglo XX sobre los objetos artificiales, no han aprovechado al máximo los rasgos específicos de ese novedoso tipo de objeto técnico para desarrollar una ontología. Asimismo, han empleado enfoques semánticos de los objetos artificiales para dar cuenta de su existencia, su diseño y su evolución, que más bien son herederos de una tradición de análisis ligada a los objetos artesanales, enfatizando los rasgos del autor y los contextos de uso. Siguiendo la metáfora lingüística, en el presente artículo intentaremos mostrar la necesidad de incorporar a las reflexiones ontológicas de los objetosindustriales, un enfoque centrado en las estructuras sintácticas, y en su capacidad generadora de nuevas estructuras, sin que ello signifique excluir los desarrollos intencionalistas de corte semántico. Lo que proponemos no es un reemplazo del enfoque semántico por el sintáctico, sino una ampliación de los límites conceptuales que imponen las teorías intencionalistas de base semántica, para lograr una mejor comprensión de los objetos industriales contemporáneos, su diseño y su evolución.
A significant change in the history of the technical objects started in the 18th century, when the artificial objects undertook a serie of qualitative variations giving rise to what is known as the industrial object. However, many of the most important philosophical reflections of the 20th century on artificial objects, have not taken full advantage of the specific features of this new type of technical object in order to develop an ontology. In addition, semantic approaches have been employed to give an account of artificial objects existence, their design and their evolution, which ar rather heirs of a tradition of analysis linked to the artisanal object, emphasizing the traits of the author and the contexts of use. Following the linguistic metaphor, in this article we will attempt to show the need to incorporate ontological reflections on the industrial objects, an approach focused on the syntactic structures, and in its capacity for the generation of new structures, without excluding the intentionalist semantic developments. What we propose is not a replacement of a semantic approach by a syntactic one, but rather an extension of the conceptual limits imposed by the semantic based intentionalist theories to achieve a better understanding of the contemporary industrial objects, their design and their evolution.
