Aves fingidas: Reescrituras del mito de Leda y el cisne en Rubén Darío, Delmira Agustini y Silvina Ocampo

En el Modernismo latinoamericano son abundantes las apropiaciones de elementos de la mitología grecorromana. Entre ellos, propongo analizar las reescrituras del mito de Leda y el cisne que llevaron a cabo Rubén Darío en Cantos de vida y esperanza (1905) y Delmira Agustini en Los cálices vacíos (1913). En el diálogo que se establece entre estos poemas (la respuesta de Agustini a Darío) y entre ambos y el hipotexto mítico es posible ver cómo se traman ciertas ansiedades y violencias en torno a la construcción de los géneros y deseos sexuales. También abordaré una reescritura posterior que recupera y se apropia del poema de Darío: “Leda y el cisne” de Silvina Ocampo (Los nombres 1953). Este último texto se corre de las representaciones canónicas del mito porque pone en primer plano la representación en sí, y ubica el énfasis en el espejo por sobre los personajes “vivos”.
In Latin American Modernism there are abundant appropriations of elements from Greco-Roman mythology. Among them, I propose to analyse the rewriting of the myth of Leda and the swan by Rubén Darío in Cantos de vida y esperanza (1905) and Delmira Agustini in Los cálices vacíos (1913). In the dialogue between these poems (Agustini's response to Darío) and between both of them and the mythical hypotext, it is possible to see how certain anxieties and violences around the construction of gender and sexual desires are plotted. I will also address a later rewriting that recovers and appropriates Darío's poem: Silvina Ocampo's "Leda and the Swan" (Los nombres 1953). This latter text is extremely transgressive with canonical representations of the myth because it foregrounds the representation itself and places the emphasis on the mirror over the "living" characters.
