However, Pompeyo's rehabilitation process does not end with his release. The aim of the post-release monitoring is to periodically track and locate the individual to understand its movements, aswell as check its health status and adaptation to the wildlife. This process requires local citizencollaboration to inform us about the presence of this manatee, and to follow the rules of not feedingor harassing Pompeyo or any other manatee of the Santuario. We hope that Pompeyo’s release servesto reinforce the message of responsibility that we all have in the care and protection of thisemblematic species.
