Fluid dynamic effects in the deposition of Al2O3 layers onto metallic supports for structured catalysts

The fluid-dynamic effects involved in the deposition of γ-Al2O3 layers onto metallic slabs by dip coating have been investigated by means of rheological and particle size distribution measurements of the slurries. The influence of the slurry mixing method (magnetic stirring versus ball milling) is also addressed. The present results provide a rational basis for the control of the characteristics of the deposited layers.
