- Bird censos on the Beagle Channel. In the morning of 12 December, 1972 we carried a bird census on the Beagle Channel, Tierra del Fuego. We recorded total bird numbers for each half-hour period. Species abundance seemed to be most influenced by the degree of exposure to prevailing winds and the proxinÍity of land masses.
