"Chumy Chúmez. Una biografía": autoficción, testimonio y homenajes

En 1973 el dibujante y humorista Chumy Chúmez publicó la novela gráfica, "Chumy Chúmez. Una biografía". A partir de la técnica del collage, recupera grabados del siglo XIX y brinda un explícito homenaje a sus grandes ilustradores. La obra, escrita en los años finales del régimen franquista, requiere ser analizada en el contexto político de su producción, pero también en el sistema literario y artístico de los años 70. De ambas coordenadas surge un relato gráfico que mediante la fragmentación, la elipsis y la sugerencia, interna al lector en el clima moral de la dictadura. Al mismo tiempo revela indicios inequívocos de un cambio de ciclo, histórico y estético.
In 1973 the cartoonist and humorist Chumy Chúmez published the graphic novel, "Chumy Chúmez. Una biografía". From the collage technique, he recoveres prints of the nineteenth century and provides an explicit homage to the great illustrators. The book, written in the final years of the Franco regime, must be analyzed in the political context of its production, but also in the literary and artistic system of 70s. Both coordinates are visible in a graphic story by fragmentation, ellipsis and suggestion. The story introduces the reader to the moral climate of the dictatorship and, at the same time, reveals unequivocal evidence of a change of cycle, historical and aesthetic.
